As part of my placement year from Harper Adams University College, I was given the opportunity to work for MB Hodgson & Son as the Assistant Land Agent in the Lancaster office. At Harper Adams I am studying on the foundation REALM course for three years. However, I have great aspirations of doing a fourth year and topping up to get an MRIC’s degree.
I am 19 years of age and come from North Cave in the East Riding of Yorkshire. I have been a keen member of Beacon Young Farmers for a number of years and held an office position within our club as sports secretary, whilst participating in many activities. I also take part in sports such as golf, football, rugby and cricket.
My family include my dad (Philip), mum (Susan) and my older sister (Gemma). My father is a director of one of the UK’s largest animal feed manufacturers and livestock marketing operations. My mother is an active member of Ladies in Pigs (LIPS) and has been asked to take on the role of Chair Woman next year. My sister is currently in her last year at Leeds University studying primary education with science, hoping to be a primary school teacher.
I enjoy rural live, spending many of my holidays on a friend’s hill farm, helping with day to day running of the farm, whilst also working with the hounds of Goathland Hunt as he is the Master of the hunt.
